Today I said "see you later" to my stepmom. It is always so hard to say goodbye. We had a great visit, much more relaxed than her first trip to Japan where we tried to squeeze everything into a few days. Instead we had a couple big days and then stuck closer to home for the other days.
No matter how good the visit, I am left tired after someone goes home. I love hosting our friends and family. I love showing them around and giving them a glimpse of life in Tokyo.
If you came to stay with me, where would you want to go? Is there somewhere that you've heard of that I have not written about? The opportunities in Tokyo are endless!
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
