Keep on studying

Sometimes I am sitting in class thinking I am never going to understand this language.  Learning a language can be a very frustrating, long process and I am continually in the midst of it.

But then I leave class.  And I go to the park.  And I have a conversation with one of the park moms in Japanese.  It is a simple conversation with simple sentences (and it definitely isn't perfect grammar), but it is still a conversation.  And I walk away with an extra smile on my face.

Later, I go to a restaurant with my son and I am able to successfully order dinner on my own.  It also isn't a big deal, but to me it really is.

I am learning.  Very slowly, but I am learning.  And it makes me feel successful.

When everyday is a struggle, we need to embrace the little wins.  Chatting about our weekend activities and our children made me feel successful.  Placing my family's order made me feel like I wasn't helpless.

It was a good day.  And I needed a day that left me feeling strong and able.

Now it is time to do my homework...
