It is Friday and I am exhausted. I just want to curl up on my heated carpet and watch a movie. Something funny and not needing me to think. Luckily, I have Netflix, so it might just happen after my son goes to bed.
Part of the exhaustion of this week is from preparing for tax preparation. That sounds redundant, but it really isn't. As part of our relocation package, we are able to work with a tax accounting firm. This truly is a gift because when you move internationally, you have to file taxes in two countries! It takes a lot of preparation.
So each night, I log in and try to fill out the huge questionnaire and gather the required information. Although it seems early for most to be doing tax prep, I'm dealing with different due dates and giving someone time to help. Every time I request something, I have to wait at least overnight.
I'm looking forward to tax season being over. I know it just sounds whiny, but it really is a whole lot of work. I'll be happy once I have everything in order.
Until then, I'll make sure to snack on weird Japanese Kit Kats - like orange and amazake (drink made from fermented rice).
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
