Today we learned that I had already made my last bento for the school year. Starting tomorrow, my son's school will only be open for half days though the end of the scholastic year (which ends in 2 weeks). The school said that by not sharing meal times, there is a reduced risk of sharing germs. So from now on, school will let out before lunch time.
The kids have also been instructed to no longer bring their hand towels to school. Instead, they need to carry a small cloth in their pocket (previously they have hug one up on a communal rack).
His ballet classes and swimming lessons have also been cancelled.
I'm not getting down about this. Instead, we will use this time to have fun together. I'm going to have to get creative.
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
