Pick your flavor

I'm a big fan of weird flavor snacks.  You've probably read my potato chip post featuring a list of weird potato chips flavors.  Part of this fandom is just my amusement that someone sat there and thought "the world needs a chicken nugget with barbeque sauce chip."  Not only did someone think this, they worked hard to make it happen.  And enough other people thought it was such a good idea, they helped to make it come to fruition!

These were disgusting by the way.
I couldn't even eat a second chip!
Japan is quite possibly the snack capital of the world.  The convenience store society and popularity of vending machines only feeds this mentality of constant snacking.  That is probably why the meal portion size is so small (usually, not always).  Take the importance of snacks and add the urgency factor of limited edition flavors, and you have a snack utopia.

Weird flavor snacks isn't limited to chips.  It also includes a wide variety of other snacks, including soft serve and ice cream.  I've noticed a huge uptick in weird flavors recently.  This isn't the variety found at Baskin Robbins.  It is taking the weird flavors of Ben and Jerry's to a whole new level.

Which of these would you try?  (By the way, they aren't actually soft serve.  It is hard ice cream that is pushed through a tube into a cone.)
  • Mozuku Seaweed
  • Denki bran (an alcohol drink flavor)
  • Sake
  • Salt Milk
  • Green Soybean (Edamame)
  • Plum Sherbet (it's actually the sour plum, Ume)
  • Tofu Milk
  • Oriental Mustard (a very spicy mustard flavor)
  • Japanese Horseradish (wasabi)
  • Whitebait (a small semi-dried white fish)
  • Black Soybean Flour
  • Black Vanilla (bamboo charcoal!)
  • Corn Potato Soup

In all honesty, I didn't try anything since it was pouring rain when I saw the stand.  But the question still remains, would you be brave enough to try one?

The time has come to say goodbye

Earlier this year my husband applied for a new job. As usual, I encouraged him as he went through the interview process. It was a long, draw...
