Journey to the center of the earth

Whenever my son and I visit my husband at his office in Roppongi Hills, we take the subway.  The Oedo line is one of the newest subway lines in Tokyo and therefore is one of the deepest.  For us, it is very convenient and one of the major reasons we moved to Hikarigaoka.

After we arrive at the Roppongi station, getting up to the street takes a long time.  I often feel as if I'm traveling up from the center of the earth!

The platform for track 1 is 42.3 meters (138.78 feet) underground, which is 7 floors!  No wonder it feels like such a long trip.

Once you reach the gate, there are still 2 more flights to go.
The sign says it is 166 stairs from the platform to the gate.

5 escalators and 2 flights of stairs later, I emerge onto the street.  The journey takes 5 minutes and 23 seconds.  I consider the trip up as my "parking time."  At least I don't have to keep circling the parking lot.
