Losing my mind

There are days I feel like I have my head screwed on straight.  And then there are other days.

My family went to the shopping center together to get some errands done.  While there, we decided that my husband would take what we had purchased home and then come back.  He was getting ready to leave when he realized he didn't have his bike key.  I didn't have it either.  What were we going to do?  After trying not to panic, we decided he would take my bike home, grab the extra key and bring it back with him.  So, he left and our son and I continued shopping.  When he returned, he had 2 keys for his bike.  Turns out he had locked his bike, but forgot to remove the key.  We laughed and said "only in Japan can you leave a key in the lock and the bike will still be there when you go to get it!"

Then we carried on.  We did what we had come to do.  After shopping, it was time to head home.  It had been a long day with lots of activity and we were ready to be on our way.  As we walked up to our bikes, I reached into my purse to grab my bike key.  It wasn't there.  This couldn't really be happening again, could it?

Maybe my husband had it.  After all he had borrowed it when he had left his key in his lock.  Nope.  He didn't have it.  I took every single item out of my purse.  It was not there.  It wasn't in my pockets.  Where could it be?  It was starting to get dark and our son needed food.  What were we going to do now?

We decided to go to dinner.  I would head over to the restaurant with our son and my husband would run home and get the spare (sound familiar yet?) before coming to meet us.  As we walked over, I received a text.  It was a photo of the missing key.  I know I didn't leave it in the lock.  Where did he find it?  Turns out, someone had turned it in at lost and found.  Once again, we both thought "only in Japan!"

This country has an incredibly low crime rate.  The most common crimes are personal disputes and vandalism.  It is no wonder that our bikes were just fine.

The time has come to say goodbye

Earlier this year my husband applied for a new job. As usual, I encouraged him as he went through the interview process. It was a long, draw...
