When I left the house this afternoon to pick up my son, I was surprised to realize it was raining. Rain was not in the forecast, so I had not sent my son to school with rain boots, jacket, or umbrella. My husband had recently picked up a new raincoat for our son that fits over his backpack. I had been wanting to get one in this style for a while. It is so handy for all those kids walking to and from school.
Maybe they have these in the US, but I've never seen them. I love the little snap on the back so it can be worn over a backpack or without. It also has a clear visor on the hood so it can cover the child's face a bit, but they can still see through it.
As I walked up to my son in the schoolyard, his face lit up. He was so excited to be able to wear his new raincoat.
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
