After school my son and I swung by the combini (convenience store) to pick up a treat for my son. He really wanted ice cream and since it was 93° I didn't mind getting him a little something.
As we walked to the back of the store, we passed by the wild array of chip flavors. This is one of my favorite things to peruse. There is no shortage of entertaining flavors and unique combinations to temp adventurous people. As previously reported, there is always something for everyone.
Today's delights included several new and interesting flavors did not disappoint. Although I used to always want to buy and try, I find that desire to be less and less these days.
Curry house corn chips! Frito Lay is starting to bring more corn chips to the Japanese market. They aren't very popular just yet. Potato is still king.
Shrimp flavored popcorn. I've seen several shrimp flavored chips, but never popcorn. It is a very popular flavor here.
Gyoza flavored rice crackers. I've been seeing this flavor more and more. This packaging is quite... interesting. Doesn't make me want to open this bag.
And my favorite discovery of the day - spicy fish roe and mayonnaise. This is not my bag of chips.
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
