I was talking with one of the park moms and she commented that we did a "Japanese vacation." We took a long weekend trip to a foreign country, did as much as humanly possible, and then returned bright eyed and happy. It was a quick trip, but also so much fun. Although my husband and I used to take day trips to Vancouver Canada a couple times a year, it doesn't feel the same.
We only saw a small piece of a very intriguing country. When we first flew in, I was amazed by the uniformity of the buildings. If looked like one of those 1950's neighborhood models, where every building was exactly the same.
But from the moment of disembarkment, I didn't find this to be true. There are more mundane areas, but so much of what I saw was lively, interesting, and colorful.
Although I thought the buildings in Gangnum were especially creative, I stopped in my tracks several times to stare at interesting buildings all over the city.
The metal building was actually egg shaped
from the other side! Very fun!

This building was labeled as "Seoul Future Heritage."

Seoul City Hall |
I am so glad we took advantage of my husband's business trip to explore someplace new. It revitalized me, as vacations should. And the architecture, both historical and modern, was so exciting and interesting.

Here are a couple other interesting things I thought I'd share:
McDonald's menu - featuring the bulgogi burger.
Sorry, didn't try it. My husband was intrigued by the
self-ordering kiosks!
|
Fish tanks outside of seafood restaurants featuring
fish, octopus, crabs, shell fish and more.
Doesn't get much fresher than that!
|
My son doing some forward rolls on the Astroturf
on the main drag in Gangnum. Check out that huge
screen! It wrapped around the building.
|
Street vendor food. Yum! |
Super cute macarons. |
