Can we keep him?

While hanging out in Ginza last week, I really wanted a matcha latte.  Matcha is the earthy green tea that is ground up into a fine powder and mixed with water.  When prepared properly, it is whisked until frothy.  I wanted it mixed with steamed milk with foam on the top.  I had heard that the Nissan showroom in the Nissan Crossing building had a coffee shop on the second floor.  My son and I decided to check it out.

Luckily we knew it was on the second floor, because the first floor was closed since they were decorating for Halloween.

Before we got to the café, we noticed a huge touchscreen with lots of information about the latest technology Nissan was using in its cars.  My son loved touching it to see what popped up and expanding and shrinking windows.  Although I know very little about cars, I was able to tell my son about the electric cars that are now available and the self driving cars that are becoming more and more of a reality every day.

We then checked out the two cars on the floor, including the 2020 concept car that reminded me of my brother's Hot Wheels from when we were kids.  It was quite the sight, whether or not cars are your thing.

After the cars, we finally spotted the café and took a peak at their menu.  They basically had 4 things on their menu - lattes, matcha lattes, chocolate lattes, and regular coffee.  The best part of their lattes was the macchi-art - pictures that they could scan right onto the top of your drink!  You could either pick a car to be scanned onto your drink, or they would take your photo and have that put on it.  My son and I got such a huge kick out of our faces on my drink.

Once we finished my drink (does a mom ever get to fully enjoy a beverage by herself), we decided to explore the Sony floors upstairs.  Of course there were cameras to play with and televisions to check out.  But the think that really excited my son was Aibo (eye-bow), the robotic dog.

Aibo reacts to human touch.  It does tricks and captures hearts.  It immediately captured my son's heart.  "Mommy, can we buy one?  Can we take it home with us?"  It was so cute.  But at ¥320,000 ($2,875), it was not coming home with us in any way shape or form.

There always seems to be something neat in Ginza.  It's just all insanely expensive.  So, we will just look and not bring it home.

The time has come to say goodbye

Earlier this year my husband applied for a new job. As usual, I encouraged him as he went through the interview process. It was a long, draw...
