There are some very, very creative parks in Japan, but I have never seen one like this. Nishi-Rokugo Park is by far one of the most unique parks I have ever been to. The majority of the park was constructed with tires!
When I was a kid, I loved climbing in and out of the big tire in the schoolyard. My friends and I had a blast playing king of the mountain and hide and seek. I think if I saw a park like Nishi-Rokugo, my head would have exploded.
In fact, when my son first saw this park, he stopped in his tracks and said "WHOA!"
From the two-story Godzilla to the oversized robot, there were so many things to see and climb on.
We could easily spend hours and hours at this park. Unfortunately we had plans and couldn't stay for long. But, man, it was amazing!
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
