Today was an unseasonably warm day. It was windy, but at 24°C (75°F) it was glorious. One of my favorite things about Japan is the dry autumn. It helps the colorful leaves stay on the trees for a very long time.
After spending the day at the park with his school, we headed back to the park for more fun in the afternoon. We sat watching the leaves blowing around like a fireworks show in the sky for a long time before my son decided to run around and play.
I sat there with my friends until after the sky went dark, watching, enjoying, and talking the afternoon away. I needed to take this moment to enjoy the day and the season. It is truly a beautiful time of year.
In a few days (Thursday to be exact), the temps will drop to 9°C (48°F). Our days at the park will be spent bundled up with warm drinks in tow. But for now, we will enjoy the gifts we are given.
In 2017 my family headed to Tokyo. My husband had a new job and my son and I came along for the ride. This move was my second move to Japan - the first was for a year in 2002. At that time I was a single, recent college graduate. Moving abroad as a family was a whole different ball of wax. As I live this crazy life in Japan, I track our adventures and my observations, creating an unofficial guidebook to the city.
