Making construction cute

Any time I pass a construction site, I chuckle to myself.  Only in Japan would they deem it necessary to make construction cute.

I really appreciate the extra staff they always have for road construction.  There are at least two flaggers keeping the pedestrian, bike, and car traffic in fine working order.  Flaggers wear blue uniforms and have bright orange light sabers, similar to the ones used at the airport to communicate to pilots as they park the airplanes.  The signs alerting of upcoming closures or redirection are very polite.  There is a sign with a bowing flagger that I've seen when bikes must go around.

The green cross indicates construction.

There are a variety of cute traffic cones and dividers to keep the construction on one side and the public on the other.  These aren't always used since there is often a large white retainer wall holding back the dust and keeping the noise inside.  But the cones and dividers are always entertaining.

It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it just brightens up a bit of a hassle.
